cheering news came to Mr & Mrs Arthur Taylor (of) Swellshill on Sundayabout their son Pte Frank W.G. Taylor, Yorkshire Light Infantry. Frank belongs to the light infantry by nature for he is both little and lively. He had not been heard of for 13 weeks till Sunday, when a postcard was received saying that he is a prisoner of war in Stendal, Germany…  (Stroud Journal 1918)

… after eight months spent as a prisoner of war in Stendal Camp, Germany, he has now arrived in France. No letters or parcels have been received by him, although many have been sent to him. (Stroud Journal 06/12/1918)
